What’s the difference (at least for you!) between being a writer and an author? How do you shift gears between the two?
Being a writer and being an author are two different things, that is for sure. An author is generally specific to a particular work, publish books, but a writer writes articles, not books or novels. It’s the general profession.

Favorite non reading activity?
Thinking, teaching, doing research work, sitting with a laptop, walking, pouring water to plants, sleeping and watching TV with my family members.

Is there any other profession you would like to try?
I would love to be a Scientist or Psychologist since the idea of observing or looking into plant’s or people’s lives, reading about their behaviour is just mesmerizing.

What brings you great joy?
There are so many things that bring me joy in this world. My parent, sister, and nieces and interacting with children get me great pleasure as well. Classroom lectures, teaching, doing research in the lab, writing books and articles, working with positive people bring me intense joy and happiness.

Do you speak a second language? Do you think differently in that language? Does it influence your writing?
When I speak, think or write, it’s in English only, my mother tongue Nepalese or Gorkhali, or in Hindi, India’s national language. However, I could speak Bengali and Assamese fluently due to having lived, studied, and worked in Assam, India’s northeastern state, for many years. The classroom lectures, talks, and student interaction enabled me to become more fluent in English.
